Somerset Holidays & Celebrations Volume 5

Hey ya'll!!  I've been out for longer then I intended.  Last week, I had what was supposed to be a simple out-patient surgery that I didn't recover so well from.  Apparently, I'm good at causing a little drama.  :)  I'm in the midst of a million tests but I'm starting to feel much, much better and am working on getting on top of things again.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to all my friends and family and especially to my wonderful husband, for all your love and support.  Ooo and the treats you've showered us with.  Mmmm, love me some confectionery goodness!

Moving along, I'm very excited to finally tell you that my Spring wood letters have been featured in Somerset Holidays & Celebrations Volume 5.

The Bombora is my boys' new favorite ride.  My daughter, um, not so much.  She screamed her head off and ended with tears.  Thrill seeker she is not.  You see, the Bombora is a kiddie roller coaster.  Wow.  She takes after her Dad.

• I've been making pillows lately.  I would love to add these mondo pom-poms to finish it off.  
• "You are loved - always".
• I have a problem.  I love floral fabrics!  My newest crush is this Joel Dewberry - Heirloom in Rose Gold.  Puuurty! 
• Milk Paint is lovely. 
• Would this pretty free printable to-do list help me get my hiney in gear?  There is only two weeks left until school starts!
• Bright aqua armoire and cute pillows.
• Headboard idea.

So many inspirations!  I'm thinking I spent too much time on the internet today.  Hah!

Sneak Peaks - White Butterfly Chandelier Kits and New Curtains

This week, I've been busy, busy, busy!  Sewing, crafting and painting.  It feels great and I love getting things done that I've been wanting to do for so long. 

Here's a little sneak peak of two of things that I've done this week. 

The original butterfly chandelier that I had listed in my Etsy shop is no longer available, but I get e-mails on it often.  I decided to make a white version to list in the shop. 

Annnnd, I made curtains for my daughter's room that make us happy!  Her room is my favorite in the house.  Seriously.  I find myself sitting in her cheery room quite often.  Currently deciding on what trim I would like on it.  Large pom-poms, medium poms or chenille pom-poms with pretty fauceted beads?  Lace trims and ribbons?  Pretty fringes?  So many possibilities!

Oh, and one more thing that I finally did.  I made a new header after I had forgotten that I left the blank one up there so long ago.  It's nothing special, but will due for now.

Lemonade Stand and a Banner

Today, my little cutie and her friend decided to have a lemonade stand.  I absolutely delight in the differences of my kids stands.  Boys, they get 'er done with a quick sign and pitcher of lemonade that hopefully tastes good.  But the girls, oh the girls.  They decorate.  Oh the details that delight me. 

The proud creators- they feed off of each others creativity.  Isn't that the best?

The driveway featured big bubble letters.  The table was set up purposely under our big window because of the banner.  Their was a table cloth, a jar of straws, a bowl of treats, the tip jar and a pretty pink money box. 

But the icing on the cake for me was the glass of lemonade displayed proudly on a pretty pedestal plate with a straw and a sign declaring "NO backwashing!".  I guess they planned on only using one cup? 

It was considered a great success with each making $1.75. Oh and yes, my daughters' friend is wearing boots and yes, it was 97 degrees today.   Fashion over comfort my friend.  They learn early!

Fresh Lemonade

My newest class is coming up quickly!  How Summer flies! 

Vintage Inspired

"Fresh Lemonade" Blocks

These blocks are sunny and vintagey featuring the prettiest lemon paper and a vintage lemonade ad.

Class is tommorrow, July 22nd,  at the So. Jordan Robert's (10551 S Redwood Road) July from 6pm-8pm.  There are still a few spots open for the class or kit.

Next week, July 29th, class will be at the Layton Hobby Lobby (1080 North Main Street) 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Thinking about my black and white striped rug...

I recently bought this rug after debating it for years....

IKEA Rand

I found it practically brand new in the local classifieds.  When I buy something that I can't return, I have to think of at least two places I could use it.  For this rug, I wanted it for the front room but also think that it could work in the boys room, my daughters room or the spare room and even our master (if I ever think that it could be cute in there.).  How 'bout them beans?  

Now that it is here, how to decorate with it? I've got a whole lot of solid, neutral colors going on in the front room.  Brown, gray, cream....

Remedy -  lots of color and patterns.  

Problem - no cashola.  

Solution -  good ol' fashioned re-purposing and DIY projects.  (eek! mooore projects!)

So, which way am I gonna go?  

Answer:  Um, hopefully good! 

I do like this room very much which really looks very neutral with a pop of green.
