More Kitchen Love

It's no secret that I would love a fresh, crisp white kitchen with subway tiles, pretty countertops (dark or light) in a flat, honed finish and a worn wood floor.  (Found here and here.)  However, after seeing what my white appliances look like at the end of the day, it would be one hot mess in there all of the time!

I saw this kitchen today and fell in love!  Such a pretty, warm cabinet color mixed with a crisp white backsplash.  I have to say that the fabric makes the room.  It wouldn't be so fabulous without it.  Of course, the beautiful dishes and vintage collections don't hurt either.

World Market Rug

I found this rug today while vegging out in front of the computer...

Yup.  Pretty much in love with it.  My front room is in desperate (okay maybe a little dramatic there) need of a new rug.  Preferably one with lots of color.  'Cause my room needs some color, just like my header.  Color that doesn't match what is in there.  'Cause I like it like that. 

My birthday is coming up next week.  How about a BIG present for me this year honey?

LOVE this kitchen!

I've been keeping my eye on this kitchen evolution and love how it turned out!  Oh how I would love to have the space, the light-filled brightness just makes me happy.  Of course, my favorite color combination of blue, gray, plenty of white and pops of yellow has a little something to do with my adoration.

I've been itching to lighten up our dark galley kitchen since the day we moved in.  So much work, but so pretty!

IKEA Shelving

Yesterday, I showed you my dream room idea for my daughters tiny space.  There's exactly 16" on both sides of her "daybed" that I would like to fill with shelving. 

How about some lack of carpentry skills, poor mans option?  Enter, IKEA.

Or this kitchen cabinet without doors might work. The doors would be great to help hide clutter if they had enough room to open.

Girls rooms...

Today, I tore apart my daughters room.  It's high time for a new layout for, hopefully, better function.  It's a small room in a small house and she's known as a clutter hound.  A messy, messy dirty clutter hoardin' girl. 
So, I did something painful to me.  I edited out her stuff.  Big time.  I took out her bed frame, rug out, all art work off the walls, the doll cradle and stroller and I'm contemplating taking out the cute little play kitchen cupboard.  Yes, this is major for me.

I've centered the bed frame under the window with hopes of making a pretty daybed set up.  I think that the window all fancied up with pretty linens and tall, narrow bookcases, a fancy headboard (I've got a vintage one that I'm really hoping will work) and lots of pillows would be fab-u-lous!  While looking for an actual daybed frame, I found this picture which is exactly what I was thinking!

Hot dang if I only married a carpenter!  It's perfect!  Even the colors are fantastic!  All that white is so pretty but I know my daughter too well, she's messy!  Let's just say that she doesn't believe in wearing shoes and likes to play outside.

Lay Baby Lay

I'm kindof obsessed with this new blog lay baby lay.  Her nursery for her daughter is fantastic!  I love the vintage pink and gold and dramatic black.  Can't help but want to dive into reworking my daughters room.  LOVE this library inspired one.

Even though her boards are for nurseries, I think that they can be easily applied to children's rooms. 

Lovin' This Room

This boys room that Nicole did on Making It Lovely makes me giddy!  I've have always wanted to decorate the boys room with robots, pale aqua and orange.  I'll take it all thank you very much!

However, I can't get my boys on board with the whole robot thing.  Well boy actually, my oldest thinks it's a little boys room - maybe because it says "little boys room" on the layout and he wants nothing but red.  And the room is for a three year old and a ten year old.  How can I make it work for both of us?  I can't stop thinking about this room! 

Have you ever been to Making it Lovely??  I love it!  It's my must have daily stop to see what she's been doing.  This room above is a part of series called Making it Yours where she takes a great piece of furniture and puts into a ficitional life showing how that piece of furniture can evolve with you.  This boys room is the 5th room.  Other favorites of this series is the bedroom and hallway edition.

New Years goal - Inspriation

Dust, dust, dust.  Is this blog still here under all this dust??  Cough, cough.  Somebody has been neglecting it.  That somebody has had a hard time getting better (it was pneumonia after all), getting motivated, making it through the holidays and now the aftermath.  That somebody needs some new rechargeable batteries.  They aren't holding a charge for very long anymore.

In effort to re-energize and as part of my New Years goal, I have been looking for inspirations.  Lucky for me, it's found everywhere.  Color inspirations, organizational inspirations, decorating and more. 

First stop.  Organizational inspirations.  IKEA with friends.  Well, one friend and her little one that is my friend because he is so stinkin' cute you can't help but be happy with him.  But back to IKEA.  IKEA provides lots of visual, organizational happiness. Top it off with lunch in the cafeteria and it's one happy trip.  Found:  Big planter basket for storing toys was $35 on sale for $9.99!  More kassett storage boxes in green,  cute new glasses for the kitchen and hooks for the coat problem our home has.  IKEA goodness! 

Second stop: fabric.  Pretty new throw pillows and kitchen curtain ideas.

Next stop:  cupcakes.  Yes, cupcakes.  This cute shop not to far away has Boston Cream Cupcakes.  They are heavenly delicious!  Go to Cutsie Cakes and get one for yourself.   But the best cupcake that she makes are the blueberry with sweet cream.  Scrumptious!

And of course, lots of blog hopping.  There is so much talent on the web.  I only wish I could have a pinky full of design talent.  Some of my fav's:

*Little Green Notebook - love the way that she puts together rooms with so many colors yet not feeling like it's overboard.  Like her daughters room makeover.  Or her office.  And her dining room.  All done in her rental no less!

*The Lettered Cottage - love her beachy, neutral vibe.  Her kitchen, her beadboard, her reading room.  Love it all.  She's the reason why I am torn between neutral prettiness and happy color.  To find a balance.
