While I was waiting for little sweetness to be born, I decided to make some new Halloween blocks. I needed a distraction as the days ticked past her "due" date.  Plus, I'm embarrasingly fickle and seem to change my decor every year. 

 

I really like the fresh and graphic look this one has. There were some really great papers out this year.  A friend and I sat in the middle of the scrapbook isle deciding on papers.  It was quite a site with my huge 9 month pregnant belly!  I'm not quite sold on that ribbon over there.  I think I'll do some tweaking today. 

This spider is kindof creepy.  And glittery. 

And I had a lot of fun adding jewels to everything.  See the black jewels on the buttons and the little jewels on the shoes?  I tried to give the kitty a little something too, but she wasn't liking it.

Pumpkins Carved!

 It isn't Halloween until you've carved pumpkins.  

We are officially ready now! 

Dress Rehearsal

Last night, we had our family Halloween party and it was the perfect trial run for Halloween night.  Now I know how long it takes to get into full gear.  Priceless time management for my little monsters that want to trick-or-treat for as long as possible.  I got few pictures of the little goblins in which they were way more co-operative they would have been Halloween night.

Pizza guy is here!  My oldest is into low-key, not too fancy costumes.  I had him stencil his shirt and he really enjoyed himself.  He also made a name tag, cut out and glued the pizza onto his hat and customized his pizza box.  We've been laughing at all the comments that his Dad has been coming up with for trick-or-treating. It might be his last year, so he's really going live it up!  Here's their idea for his candy collecting:

This cutie is a glammed up mummy!  We found the costume and she instantly fell in love with it.  I made her the headband and some spider earrings.  She requested the scar thingy on her cheek and shimmery makeup.  This costume is very much her!

I love how her headband turned out.  We had a great time brainstorming the little details together.  She wears it everywhere and I love that she loves it so much!

And finally, our little guy.  Yes, this was his choice.  No, his insistence!  Our neighbor friend was showing our oldest boy Twisted Sisters "I Wanna Rock" when he walked by and was smitten with the idea of being this 80's rocker.  He even insisted on the wig and the make-up!  I was dying while I was making him up because he did the outline of the cheeks and did pretty good.  I guess it's hard to mess up smeared on, garish Twisted Sister makeup.  Seriously a funny little guy!

He also has his heart set on a monkey costume too.  He loves monkeys, especially Curious George so it may be that he will be a monkey for trick-or-treating.   Twisted Sister or a monkey.  Hmm...interesting right?  Hope you have had as fun as we have finding and putting together our costumes!  Happy Halloween!

Halloween Bunting

Whoa!  Has it really been that long since I blogged?  Didn't seem that long ago.  So sorry to leave you with the fry bread for so long.  I finally took some pictures off of my camera of the Halloween bunting I made for my house this year.  I haven't gotten back my other Halloween bunting yet from Simply Handmade and I just couldn't let my window go bare!  Well, that and I had access to a whole lot of cute fabric. 

My first banner was fun with bright green, purple, black and white with spooky skeletons hanging by a noose.  I still love this banner but not as much as I love those little girlies holding.  Be still my heart!  They have grown sooo much!

This years banner is black, white and orange with silver glittered skellies.

No cute little models to hold up this banner.  I did, however, make my suspicious neighbor nervous taking pictures on this fence.  He kept peaking over the window at me.  I just waved and said hello like the crazy lady I am.

I handmade the bias tape and added the pom-poms because everything needs pom-poms.  Even my brother-in-law mentioned that he would like some pom-poms for his truck.  I've got a sneaking suspicion that he was making fun of my little addiction.

We will be carving our pumpkins soon and then our porch will officially be ready for those trick-or-treaters!   Better get our costumes finished!

Happy Halloween!

First of, I am so super-de-dooper excited that I just won a consultation from the lovely Reachel of Cardigan Empire.  It includes a 30 minute consultation at Anthropology, 3 fashion cheat sheets, photo shoot and a sample of Crest 3D white strips this week!  Happy, happy day!!  I'm super thrilled, but oh-mylanta-me, I'm not photogenic.  How do I fix that?

Happy (official) Halloween!  We celebrated on Saturday in the pouring rain.  The kids were so excited that they didn't even care. I win worst parent award for only taking two pictures of the kids in their costumes.  I snapped a quick picture of my two little ones, but I wasn't quick enough to catch a picture of my eldest son before he dashed off to trick-or-treat with his friends.  I think that I just might convince them dress up again just for a photoshoot.  

Here, for my dear sister that lives too far away from me, are a few photos of some of our favorite Halloween decorations this year.  The kids and I had quite a fun time decorating outside, upstairs and even downstairs.

It's all about....the shoes!

This  year, I thought it would be fun to get my sisters and mother together for a crafting day.  I set about to find a project that we could make together.  I enlisted the talented Ms. Jodi to cut some wood for us and voila! cute witches boots for all.

We quickly paused for a delicious fall lunch of homemade butternut squash soup with freshly baked garlic breadsticks.    Mmmm!  Delicious! 

We were having such a great time that my sisters wanted more, so I taught them all how to make their own bat chandeliers.  Glitter was flying, tulle was tying and laughing and talking all around.  I highly recommend having a crafting day with your best family and friends. 

My boots ended up on top of my armoire with a little grouping of pumpkins with fancy witches hats and handmade mask. 

A fun day indeed!

Quick and Easy Spider Earrings

While shopping at Pier One, I saw the cutest pair of spider earrings.  They were jeweled and sparkly and spooky cool.  They had the whole nine yards going for them but, at $9 a pair,  I just didn't want to spend that.  So I made my own.  A pair of Bo Bunny spider brads with the backs snipped off then glued to a earring post and voila!  Quick and easy spider earrings sure to bring spooky delight on Halloween night. 

The Cat's Meow

Every so often, I find something that I want to make just for me.  When I found this vintage inspired kitty, I knew he should be mine.  For a good month, he sat patiently waiting for me to make him fancy.  Can I tell you that I am in love with him.  I only wish I would of done it earlier.

What's not to love with his vintagey, sparkly appearance and polka dot necktie...

and what party is complete without a little tulle?

I do believe that this guy is the cat's meow.

Halloween Tassels at Home

One of my favorite clients and friend sent me pictures of her tassels in action at her home.  Erin's home is always amazing each season and holiday.  Her displays are impeccable and gorgeous.  She is always full of good ideas for decorating.  I love the way she placed her superstitious cat tassel on her candlesticks in the midst of her display on her piano. 

She ordered a custom made bat tassel just recently and she placed it on her candlestick on her mantel.  It looks perfectly at home along side the jack-o-latern and fall greenery.

It's always fun to see where my tassels end up.  If you have a picture of yours, send it to me.  I would love to see it!

Fall Scrolly Pumpkin

I only found two of these little cuties months ago.

One pumpkin was made and sold a while ago.

The other little pumpkin sat sad waiting to be fancied up.

So I fancied him up in sages and tans,

fall berries and leaves,

a red-brown checked ribbon tied like a sash

making this little scrolly pumpkin

ready for the ball.

Candy Corn Tassel

My poor kids have been brainwashed.

They know exactly what I am looking for when I enter a store.

My li'l Miss Sassy Pants found this candy corn and

begged me to turn it into a tassel.

I obliged and love it. And so does she.

I really adore the details.

Halloween Star

I finished my Halloween decoration that I mentioned from this list. It was a fun transformation from this:

Much better me thinks.

The spooky, yet classic new My Minds Eye line was just itching to make this star a show stopper. I even got to use glitter modge podge for the first time and I must say, I enjoyed it. It added just a subtle sparkle that I totally dig.



Now, if I could just have this perfect door on my house Fall, that would be great.



My good friend was recently over at my house for a minute and when she left, she couldn't help but laugh at me. I was spray painting outside, tasseling downstairs, cutting fabric in the front room and sewing in the kitchen. She can relate. She's always doing something. What about you? Do you project hop or are we the only ones suffering from project attention disorder?
