A fabulous place for a tassel

Ever look at tassels and love them but don't know what to do with them?  Here's a great idea!  I just got an email from the sweet Sherry who won the last tassel giveaway I did.  She wasted no time putting the tassel to good use.  Look how perfect it is decorating her window shelf outside on her covered porch!

I adore it hanging on the window and did you see how cute the birdhouse is above it?  It's like it was meant to be!  See more about it here.

Thanks for sharing Sherry!

Rustic Star Custom Order

I usually make tassels for all the holidays, but the 4th of July has left me stumped. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find much to work with in the stores. After I sent cute Erin her new tassel, she back a rustic star that she wanted done into a tassel for the 4th.

I am happy with how it turned out. The star was tricky to incorporate because I couldn't hang anything off the bottom. I thought about having it be dangle below like this Valentine one but it seemed too big. The only thing left to try was hanging it. I thought it looked great!
Done up with brick red, cream and goldy/tan bullion, it's makes an untraditional 4th of July decoration that has year-round appeal.

Sophisticated blue and crystal

Finally, after such a long and patient wait, Erin's new tassel is finally on it's way to it's new home!

I am loving this crystal topper. It's proving to be quite versatile and I sure wish that I had more than two to work with. My first version was super girly in soft satin pink, layers of sheer white ribbon and pink feather boa. The classic definition of little girly-girls. This grown up version shows off it's sophisticated side with rich, deep blue, sparkly crystal and sheer ruffled white.

The peek-a-boo layers of crystals are one of my favorite details.

I do hope you love this tassel as much as I do Erin! It was fun to put it together and I couldn't believe that amount of ribbon that it demanded I put in. Nearly six yards! I can't wait to see it in place. Be sure to send a picture for us all to see.

Everyday Finial

I have a thing for finials. I like the way they look. I like to decorate with them. I always want to buy them at the store. So naturally, when I found these beautiful wood finials, I knew that they would make the perfect, luxiourious everyday decoration. As usual, I started out by making one for me. The rich deep wood against the cool blues, browns and camels are just the right colors for my front room.

Here it is custom ordered with a bit of warm gold instead of blue.

And again, another custom order with a softer layered blue fringe and more warm trim.
$22

SOLD OUT! Thank you!

Unexpected places

Only 301 more days until Christmas!!
I'm Kidding.

Yesterdays post on the big pom-poms reminded me of my favorite unexpected place that I decorated with pom-poms.

I had been so busy with the holiday season last year that I realized one day that I hadn't made myself any. So I put a few together and happily went along decorating my home. My brother-in-law gave me these sparkly beaded Christmas trees last year early so I could decorate my shelf with them. (Smart boy, or should I really say, Smart Auntie Megan? {aka Dee!Dee!}) These pom-poms looked perfect on my tree. One of those ah-ha moments that you are so proud of yourself for. Unfortunately for me, they didn't last long since I sold the rest of the tassels to friends and neighbors when they saw them in my house. My goal for next year: keep some for myself!

Big Pom-Poms

Here's a custom order that I did a while ago and completely forgot about. How could I forget about these big double pom-poms on a rope?? They are fabulous! I love the bigger size from my original red and green pom-poms. I think that they are my new favorite size and will use this size forever more. This client wanted something for this substantial picture in her office. The warm colors in the trim were perfect for her home. Simple satin black ribbon tied in a knot added just enough polished detail to the textured pom-poms.

Pom-poms are my favorite versitle decoration. I have used them in my own home in many different places. Loved them on my armoire, my lamps, doorknobs, and the back of barstools just to name a few.

You can find this pom-pom in my Etsy shop or contact me for your own custom order.
