Christmas Eve Eve

Today it's Christmas Eve Eve!  We are planning a sleepover in the front room under the glow of the Christmas tree with Christmas movies and treats.  It's our first year and I'm hoping to make it a tradition.  Let's see if I can handle the crazies.  They are extremely excited for it!  All except for my oldest who got sick yesterday and is really whiney sad about it.  It sounds like strep throat so we are headed to the doctor today.  It's strep throat again, oh my!  It wouldn't be Christmas if somebody wasn't sick.  It's a tradition that I don't enjoy.

I'm in the mode trying to remember who I'm forgetting and getting the last bits done.  I may be guilty of adding a little more here and a little more there.  It's hard for me to let some things be.

I never did share my Christmas banner with you.  It's been up for weeks!   I'm blessed to have a friend who gives me fabric and she chose a festive red and green color scheme.  I think it turned out cute!  I never added the pompoms to it.  Maybe I'll put them on today? (*Update:  Banner got pom-poms! )

Love the carolers...

And the flower is so fun and unexpected that I think it's probably my favorite.  Well, next to the poinsettia, and the carolers and the holly toile.

I got this gold wreath, that I love, from Home Goods.  I realized how nerdy I am when I tried to take a picture of it.  My son, however, is a little bit nerdier then me being that he kept opening the door and laughing at me.  My poor kid has strep throat and is pale with dark under eye circles, but he just can't stay down.  He may or may not be shooting me with darts right now.

We are super excited for Christmas to come!  We are all ready and I'm thrilled to give the kids their presents this year!  We will have a little time before church to enjoy them which I'm so happy about.  We usually go to Gram's house right after our Christmas morning for breakfast and a BIG present opening fest for the kids that makes them forget all about what they got from us.  Gram likes to spoil which is perfectly fine to do.  I'm sure I'll be the same way when I get grandchildren!

So, are you ready for Christmas?

Thanksgiving Bunting Fabric Banner

Continuing on with the monthly bunting fabric banner tradition, here is my Thanksgiving bunting for November.  I love the rich colors and the generous dose of vintage pom-poms.  I'm laughing at this picture because it was freezing cold outside so I ran out and took a few quick shots.  This was the only one that went but you get the idea.  Happy that it's been up since Novemeber 2nd!

Here is my October Halloween banner , September Fall banner and August Summer Banner .

Today, I'm thankful for a good friend that got me caught up in the monthly banner fever.  Even if I didn't think that I wanted to bother with so many banners, it's sure has been fun!  She finds some great fabrics and I can't wait to see the next one.

Halloween Bunting

Whoa!  Has it really been that long since I blogged?  Didn't seem that long ago.  So sorry to leave you with the fry bread for so long.  I finally took some pictures off of my camera of the Halloween bunting I made for my house this year.  I haven't gotten back my other Halloween bunting yet from Simply Handmade and I just couldn't let my window go bare!  Well, that and I had access to a whole lot of cute fabric.

My first banner was fun with bright green, purple, black and white with spooky skeletons hanging by a noose.  I still love this banner but not as much as I love those little girlies holding.  Be still my heart!  They have grown sooo much!

This years banner is black, white and orange with silver glittered skellies.

No cute little models to hold up this banner.  I did, however, make my suspicious neighbor nervous taking pictures on this fence.  He kept peaking over the window at me.  I just waved and said hello like the crazy lady I am.

One of my favorite fabrics -the vintage kids.  Also love the glittered skeletons!

I handmade the bias tape and added the pom-poms because everything needs pom-poms.  Even my brother-in-law mentioned that he would like some pom-poms for his truck.  I've got a sneaking suspicion that he was making fun of my little addiction.

We will be carving our pumpkins soon and then our porch will officially be ready for those trick-or-treaters!   Better get our costumes finished!

Fall Fabric Bunting

Remember said crafty friend that is more crazy then I am?  After seeing my 4th of July banner festivifying my humble abode, she promptly decided that she needed a new banner each month festivifying her abode.  Then I laughed and said "Each month?  Why so crazy?".  She swayed me over to the dark side and we've been making them every month, ever since.

Since I didn't really go traditional with my Fall wreath, I had some editing to do to my banner to make it work.  Fortunately, I found the perfect fabric that tied everything together.  I love this orange floral!  Found at Hancock by M'Liss I believe.

I had my banner up for about 3.2 seconds before I remembered that I had some vintage chenille pom-poms in my stash.  70's perfect orange!

September 29th and my September decor for the front porch is finally done!  I'm already excited to put it out next year.

Now onto Halloween  projects! I am very excited about them!

Valentine's Banner and Tassels

When I found this Heidi Grace Valentine's fabric, I thought it would make a fun banner.  It was a scrapbook paper last year that I made some cute Valentine's out of.  Hot pink and black Valentine's graffiti = punk hotness.  Did you know a banner could be hot??  Me neither.  Now, if I could get it to stop rebelling and stay on the front window.

I've been on the lookout for a heart shaped wreath form and I can not find one!  I have been to more craft stores than I care to admit.  I want to make a pink and black door hanging to go with my banner.  Kicking myself because I had picked up one at the thrift store a few weeks back but put it back because I was in no crafting mood and didn't want to add to my crafting mess even though it was on 75 cents.  Curses.

Keeping with the pink and black theme, I made myself a tassel.  Cute, no?  I'm all about the tuelle skirts.

And that seem to light my tassel making fire because I whipped out three more.   Here's my favorite of the bunch.  Bronze, caramel and red toile goodness.

A vintage Valentine with pink feather boa.
Red beaded and sequined heart with polka dots.  Who doesn't love polka dots?

I'm not sure that I will list Valentine's on Etsy since I've been a slacker this month.  Can you believe it's nearly February?  Me neither!  Want one?  Just ask.  I'll do a reserved listing just for you.  Because you are special and I value your business.  I do have a load of new tassels to list as soon as I twist my favorite, very pregnant photographer finger into taking pictures for me.

Happy Birthday!

My littlest one is about to turn three.  And as part of the celebration, I thought that we needed to finally get a "Happy Birthday" banner for our home.   I knew I wanted something happy and bright and gender neutral.  When I found the orange, blue and green bias-striped fabric, I knew it was just right for us!    Added in some polka dots, a dash of orange and of course, some cute buttons and a cute banner was born.

I wanted the "Happy" and "Birthday" to be seperated so I would have the option to hang it like shown above or tie them together. And silly as it might be, the "Happy" by itself can be a cute little reminder to be happy!

I think that you can never have enough polka dots and I love the raggedy, unfinished edges of the letters.

And the cute buttons make everything better!  There's that cute striped fabric again.  Working with high-quality fabric realy makes a difference.  I love how all the fabrics coordinate but don't match.

This birthday banner is ready to party!  Alongside a cupcake tassel and some cute "WISH" letters, we now have some re-usable decorations to use for everyone.  A new tradition for our family that I know can last through the years.

When I was making this banner, I was under a strict deadline so a special thank you to Jodi for handcutting all the letters out for me while I cut out and sewed the fabric squares. We make quite the team Jodi!

*Did you notice that I had this banner on my table at my last show??  I have a few that I'm thinking about what to do with.  Maybe a giveaway??  Anyone interested?

*Edited Jan.19th - I've linked to "Get Your Craft On" linky party!

Snowflake Banner

While making the other Christmas banner, I also made this banner.  I loved the combination of red corduroy, natural colored heavy linen and the red print tied together with the brown.

A festive, sparkly snowflake adorns each red corduroy pennant.

This banner looks good in so many places, I just can't decide where I want mine.  Also available in my shop.

Christmas Banner

As promised, here are some detailed pictures of my Christmas banner that was featured on KSL's Studio 5 segment with Mindy Mae's Market.

I wanted a non-traditional, fun take on Christmas banner this year.  I lucked out finding this great vintage inspired Christmas fabric.  I especially love the Santa.

I really wanted the banner to have a fun feel to it so I finally cut into my beloved stash of Heather Bailey's Pop Garden, zig-zag striped fabric.  Oh how I love this fabric!   (The ladies at the fabric store were laughing at me when I bought this fabric.  I was petting it, hugging it and loving it.  They asked me what I was going to do with it and I responded that I just wanted to hoard it.  I would of bought the whole bolt if I could of.)  The banner is sewn onto a yummy red satin ribbon and then the decorating began!

Mini red pom-poms and brown brush fringe, green taffeta bows and sparkly silver snowflakes adorn this banner.

This banner turned out pretty great!  Custom orders available and also available in my Etsy shop.
