purple-ish-pinky what color?

I went to three fabric stores in search for the perfect colored fabric for my daughters room.  I've got big plans and just need a little fabric to acheive it.  Now that we've taken a turn into the purple side, per daughters request,  I'm embracing it with all my little ol' non-purple lovin' heart and making it a firm, yep-that's-a-purple-room awesomeness.

I spent an hour perusing the three little fabric stores by my house for the perfect purpleish-pinky color.  Granted, the stores are small, but this color is hard to find!  Finally I found the right color at Ben Franklin's which fabric selection is on the smaller side.  Here's a little sample I brought home to check the color because I forgot to bring a sham with me:

Even though I wanted a solid color, the pattern in this is subtle.  Annnnd, I finally figured out what to call this purple-ish-pinky color after all that perusin'...
magenta.

Yep, magenta.  Der.  Here's the official Wikipedia definition:
Magenta is a color in between pink and purple. Sometimes it is confused with pink or purple. In terms of the HSV color wheel, it is the color halfway between red and blue and is composed equally of red and blue (50% red and 50% blue). Another name for magenta is fuchsia, named after the fuchsia flower.
Leave it up to me to not really do purple after all.

I also found some lovely purple-ish-pinky magenta on the clearance rack at Walmart.  Who knew that size 4x womens $3 turtleneck would be such an inspiration!

So I was looking

So I was looking for fabric for the boys room when I came across a blog post suggesting this site.  Even though it is now Fall and the leaves are changing, I'm still drawn to the bright prints of Meadowsweet 2 by Sandy Henderson.

Pretty, pretty, happy, pretty.

Now back to the task at hand...

If I could only have both.

I picked up a sample of this fabric today for my bedroom wall.  I like the greeny-gold of the background and the large floral blooms.  I think it will look lovely with crisp white, charcoal and yellows.

Just working to commit to the fabric because it isn't cheap considering that I'm going to need 10 yards of it.  I was going to do the Dolce Marilyn in Grey but they don't have enough of it in stock online for the price that I want to pay.

What's it going to be?  It's always a surprise with me!

Fabrics

Sooooooo, I had the priviledge of having the talented Ms. Caitlin of Caitlin Creers Interiors over for a consult of my master small bedroom.  She had so many great ideas, I can't wait to get started on them!

Ms. Cutie Caitlin suggested fabric for my walls and I have been on the search ever since.  I immediately thought of a large floral pattern.  My problem, choosing one.

Too many choices.  Which brings me to the question:

What's your favorite go-to fabric store?

Valentine's Banner and Tassels

When I found this Heidi Grace Valentine's fabric, I thought it would make a fun banner.  It was a scrapbook paper last year that I made some cute Valentine's out of.  Hot pink and black Valentine's graffiti = punk hotness.  Did you know a banner could be hot??  Me neither.  Now, if I could get it to stop rebelling and stay on the front window.

I've been on the lookout for a heart shaped wreath form and I can not find one!  I have been to more craft stores than I care to admit.  I want to make a pink and black door hanging to go with my banner.  Kicking myself because I had picked up one at the thrift store a few weeks back but put it back because I was in no crafting mood and didn't want to add to my crafting mess even though it was on 75 cents.  Curses.

Keeping with the pink and black theme, I made myself a tassel.  Cute, no?  I'm all about the tuelle skirts.

And that seem to light my tassel making fire because I whipped out three more.   Here's my favorite of the bunch.  Bronze, caramel and red toile goodness.

Red beaded and sequined heart with polka dots.  Who doesn't love polka dots?

I'm not sure that I will list Valentine's on Etsy since I've been a slacker this month.  Can you believe it's nearly February?  Me neither!  Want one?  Just ask.  I'll do a reserved listing just for you.  Because you are special and I value your business.  I do have a load of new tassels to list as soon as I twist my favorite, very pregnant photographer finger into taking pictures for me.
