Bit O' Luck St. Patrick's Day Blocks Class

This week, I'm teaching my St. Patrick's day blocks class.  I made these blocks because I was tired of not being able to find any nice St. Patrick's day decorations.  I was scrolling through my pictures tonight and found these picture that I shot back in January.  I forgot all about it!  Ah yeah, it's time to freshen up the shelf.

I'm teaching this class Tuesday, March 1st from 6-8pm at the Centerville Robert's and Friday March 4th at the South Jorday Robert's.  If you are in my class, I can't wait to see ya.  If you would like to sign up for the class, I would love it!  Go to Ribbon Scissors Studio website to sign up.  If you are out of town and would still like the kit, it's listed in my Etsy shop

*Note:  I did mix the embellishments up a little after I took that photo. It now looks like this:

IKEA Shelving

Yesterday, I showed you my dream room idea for my daughters tiny space.  There's exactly 16" on both sides of her "daybed" that I would like to fill with shelving.

How about some lack of carpentry skills, poor mans option?  Enter, IKEA.

IKEA Billy Bookcase

Or this kitchen cabinet without doors might work. The doors would be great to help hide clutter if they had enough room to open.
IKEA AKURUM
A little more modern and not as tall option:
IKEA LACK in white

There's even some high cabinets that would work in the bathroom section, although, I'm not to keen on all glass shelves.

Girls rooms...

Today, I tore apart my daughters room.  It's high time for a new layout for, hopefully, better function.  It's a small room in a small house and she's known as a clutter hound.  A messy, messy dirty clutter hoardin' girl.
So, I did something painful to me.  I edited out her stuff.  Big time.  I took out her bed frame, rug out, all art work off the walls, the doll cradle and stroller and I'm contemplating taking out the cute little play kitchen cupboard.  Yes, this is major for me.

I've centered the bed frame under the window with hopes of making a pretty daybed set up.  I think that the window all fancied up with pretty linens and tall, narrow bookcases, a fancy headboard (I've got a vintage one that I'm really hoping will work) and lots of pillows would be fab-u-lous!  While looking for an actual daybed frame, I found this picture which is exactly what I was thinking!

Hot dang if I only married a carpenter!  It's perfect!  Even the colors are fantastic!  All that white is so pretty but I know my daughter too well, she's messy!  Let's just say that she doesn't believe in wearing shoes and likes to play outside.

Disqus

I'm in the middle of installing Disqus on my blog for comments.  I'm wondering if anyone has used this on their blog and how they like it.  I'm trying to understand all that is required of it so I don't know if it's working yet.  So leave me a comment and we'll give 'er a good ol' test run and see how like it mmmkay.
Thanks!
PS:  Is it lame that I only just realized that it is most likely pronounced "discuss" and not "disk" like I've been calling it?  Yes people, I'm quick on the uptake.  Now go forth and comment.  I need your help!

Lay Baby Lay

I'm kindof obsessed with this new blog lay baby lay.  Her nursery for her daughter is fantastic!  I love the vintage pink and gold and dramatic black.  Can't help but want to dive into reworking my daughters room.  LOVE this library inspired one.

Even though her boards are for nurseries, I think that they can be easily applied to children's rooms.

Dear favorite tools,
You’re so special
You do such nice things for me;
You love me just the way I am;
You make me happy as can be!

Today, I'm declaring my love to my favorite tools at Ribbon Scissors Studio.  Come on over and see what my favorites are and why I want them to be my Valentine.  What's your favorite tools?

************
As you know, tassels are some of my favorite crafts to make, especially seasonal tassels.  Here are a few of the Valentine tassels I made this year.

This client gave me the silver heart that she wanted made into a tassel.  She also wanted dark red with light colors and to look simple and classy.   I added the heart as an embellishment to the hand stained finial for a very classy look.

This one was for fun since I've been on a Vintage art kick lately.  I love the beaded heart and extra fluffy tutu layer of tulle.

This one was not intended to be for Valentine's, but could work for it.  She wanted it silver and champagne for an everyday tassel to put on her dark wood banister finial.  I love the fullness, the colors and the topper of course!

Custom orders are always fun!  I would love to make one for you too!

New Valentine Header

Feeling festive,
Feeling bright.
Feeling the need
to make my header just right.

I know, I know!  The poems that I can come up with are auh-mazing!

New valentine-ish header love using simple tutorial from made by the mama monster.

Super Bowl Commercial Favorites

Last night, we all enjoyed watching the Super Bowl.  There were even some good plays that got this non-football watching gal impressed.  But, we all know that the Super Bowl is all about the commercials.  These were our favorites!

Number 1 for everyone: Darth Vader and VW Passat.
LOVE!

The the house sitting Dorito's commercial where he is supposed to be watering the plants and feeding the fish:

The Beetle commercial made Ryan laugh so hard!  He loves it when the beetle passes the praying mantises and love the music and when he launches off the rock.  So funny!

What were your favorites?
