Halloween Book Basket

I love to have a seasonal book basket for my kids.  We really enjoy it, and even though there are a lot of board books, Jake still likes to read them with us too.  Nothing is better than a snugly soft blanket and a basket full of books to read on a cool Autumn day especially today when it's dark and SNOWING!

Some of our favorites:

I would love to add to our collection. Do you have a favorite book to share with us??

My kids LOVED this book! I'd read with funny voices and inflection:

MAN! I can't get the image to load in here as a graphic and not location address!!!

It's called Big Pumpkin, it's not super long at all. And it's really cute.

We have a holiday basket as well! I have a few that you didn't mention (my favorite thing is to order from the school book orders and wait to bring them out until the holiday), but probably one of our absolute favorites is Runaway Pumpkin!

Here's another one that I thought was wonderful....

It's called Pumpkins A Story for a Field. The illustrations are very lovely.

I love books, the cover art, the journey into imagination. I kept my kids books in the Pottery Barn magazine racks for kids. I had two and I stacked them one on top of the other, hung in the hallway. That way we could enjoy the cover art and remind ourselves which ones we wanted to read. I'd move them around top to bottom and add in seasonal ones thoughout the year. We always have more books then would fit at one time so I would move them in and out of the book closet in rotation as well.

We don't read these kinds of books anymore so now the racks are in my nieces room. Along with a huge collection of our books. Makes me happy to see them getting loved all over again.

Thank you for opening the door to those memories Meg! Makes my heart feel all goopy and glad.

(this is the URL to the racks. They weren't near this expensive when I bought them. I want to say I payed less than half of that each:

we have a book basket too, well right now its a book pile because of mr. abey pants getting into it. the boys love " arghh spider" "goodnight goon" and " in a dark dark room" i also thought it appropriate to add where the wild things are to the halloween pile. i'm excited to check out some of the new suggestions.

What a great idea! I will have to start this up when my son starts reading the books more and ripping the pages out less!

My son and his kindergarten class did a finger puppet presentation of Five Little Pumpkins. To this day (he's almost 9 yrs. old) - he LOVES that this book comes out with the Halloween decorations.
